One of the prominent representatives of the young generation of Czech sopranos, Lucie Kaňková, will perform on Thursday, November 14, together with pianist Stanislav Gallin, at the third concert of the 57th season of the Circle of Friends of Music in Dvůr Králové. The concert, scheduled for 7:00 PM in the Hank House, will offer a cross-section of Czech and world operatic works, enriched with songs by composer Jindřich Feld, whose granddaughter Kaňková is.
This year’s 57th season of the Circle of Friends of Music in Dvůr Králové will continue in November with an evening of songs and arias. Its protagonist will be the Czech coloratura soprano Lucie Kaňková, who has already established herself in a number of European opera houses, including the Deutsche Oper on the Rhine, the opera scene in Liège, Belgium, and Switzerland. Kaňková last drew attention to herself at the opening concert of this year’s cycle of Music Festivals in Prague by violinist Václav Hudeček, which were reflected by the KlasikaPlus.cz.
In the Hank House in Dvůr Králové, the singer, accompanied by Stanislav Gallin, will present Czech and world works. On the occasion of the Year of Czech Music, a selection of songs by Bohuslav Martinů, Smetana‘s The Lark’s Song from the opera Kiss, or the popular aria of Rusalka from Dvořák‘s opera of the same name will be performed. Kaňková will present her world opera legacy in works by Donizetti and Gounod, when she will sing arias from the operas Lucia di Lammermoor and Romeo and Juliet.
A welcome dramaturgical variation to the opera highlights show will be the inclusion of the song cycle Four Songs about Happiness pour Lucinka by Jindřich Feld, whose granddaughter the soprano is. The world premiere of this work is announced for the next Prague Spring festival, where Kaňková will perform the cycle on the occasion of the centenary of the composer’s birth, accompanied by the Wihan Quartet, which will celebrate its fortieth anniversary. The young pianist Stanislav Gallin, a founding member of the Orbis Trio and a laureate of numerous world competitions, will also add several piano pieces, including a selection of two Preludes for piano by Miloslav Kabeláč.
