Lucie Kaňková as the Queen of the Night at the prestigious Opernspiele Munot open-air festival in Switzerland

The summer opera season in Switzerland marks another significant milestone in the career of Lucie Kaňková. The talented Czech soprano will perform the iconic role of the Queen of the Night from Mozart’s *The Magic Flute* at the prestigious Opernspiele Munot open-air festival in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. She arrives at the festival as the winner of the local vocal competition—a victory that paved the way for this exceptional artistic engagement.

The role of the Queen of the Night is among the most daunting challenges in the global operatic repertoire. Its reputation rests on dazzling coloratura, extremely high notes, and uncompromising demands regarding vocal technique, precision, and expressive mastery. For Lucie Kaňková, this iconic character represents another opportunity to shine on the international stage and confirm her standing among the standout artists of the young generation of coloratura sopranos.

Her appearance on the *Schaffhausen Nachrichten* television program also attracted the attention of the Swiss media. Lucie Kaňková gave an interview to Schaffhauser Fernsehen in which she discussed not only the demanding role of the Queen of the Night but also her artistic career and experiences on the international stage. Her interview partner was Bernhard Bettermann, an internationally acclaimed actor and another prominent artistic figure in this year’s festival production.

The combination of Mozart’s immortal music, the exceptional open-air atmosphere of the historic Munot and the international artistic cast promises an extraordinary operatic experience. For Lucia Kaňková, participation in this Swiss production is not only a prestigious engagement, but also the next step on her journey through the European opera scene.
