Lucie Kaňková will appear in the role of Violetta Valéry in the Prague production of Verdi’s La Traviata for the fifth season. You can see her in this role at the State Opera during upcoming performances on September 26, November 29, and December 16, 2026, as well as alongside tenor Omer Kobiljak on January 12, 22, 24, and 27, 2027.
She has already performed the role of Violetta at six theaters across five countries. Her appearances include the season-opening performance in Chișinău, Moldova (broadcast live on Moldovan television), the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest, the National Theatre in Košice, Fribourg (Switzerland), and—within the Czech Republic—the stages of the Prague State Opera and the Silesian Theatre in Opava.
Violetta was also the central subject of her doctoral thesis, which she successfully defended at Prague’s HAMU in the autumn of 2022, thereby earning her Ph.D.
